Abstract:

This dataset shows the location of the Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) on Pohnpei. It was created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - National Geodetic Survey (NGS) (2011 and 2012. It was formatted to GIS by the University of Guam. Surveyors, GIS users, engineers, scientists, and the public at large that collect GPS data can use CORS data to improve the precision of their positions. CORS enhanced post-processed coordinates approach a few centimeters relative to the National Spatial Reference System, both horizontally and vertically.

Purpose:

To show the location of the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) on Pohnpei.

The dataset is included in the Digital Atlas of Micronesia, module Pohnpei, created by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi), in collaboration with Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI) University of Guam and partial funding from United States Geological Survey (USGS), under WRRI 104-B Program, project # 2016GU302B.
